I got my Ph.D in Music Composition from U.C.
Santa Barbara.
My first two comp degrees came from the Florida State University
School of Music.
For a while I was a "Visiting Scholar" at
C.C.R.M.A., Stanford University.
I have a few programs available for 'music' making:
DuoArp
for Macintosh. *WARNING* no docs yet!
Soundfile utilities for Linux
Parting Friends - another Macintosh sound toy, dedicated to the memory of my brother.
I live in
Tallahassee FL.
Here is my resume.
My current employment is as Web Developer for the Administrative Information Services of Florida State University.
I of course have way too many half finished music projects.
My main personal research interest is software to generate control
parameters for software synthesis.
Where does intelligent paramenter generation leave off, and
"algorhythmic composition" begin?
Consider: what is a crescendo? to a listener? a performer? a composer?
How do I notate a crescendo? in written music? in a software synth
language like csound?
in my huge, strange computer music instrument with 3 or 4 interacting
parameters that affect volume?
Anyway, here are a few RealAudio .ra files of a few select moments from
some of my works:
hanshan.ra
strq.ra
